If at the beginning of 2016 you had said that within 6 months I would be living in North Wales, was learning Welsh and go to Pilates every week I would probably have laughed…..but they have all happened!
Don’t get me wrong I keep fit and until the end of last year I went to the gym regularly but at the beginning of 2016 I injured myself while under the supervision of a personal trainer and it took the rest of 2016 and into early 2017 to sort it out.
I’ll not bore you with the details but being freelance if I am off ill I don’t get paid so in that time I explored various ways of sorting the injury out with varied success.
I realised that sitting at a desk all day was not helping so I decided to take up Pilates which is how I discovered Peak Physio and Fitness in Llandudno junction and it has been brilliant. I go on a Saturday morning and every week is challenging and enjoyable and rarely are there two weeks the same which is good as it stops you getting bored.
I also started to visit one of the Physio’s there and although I had been to both another physio and an osteopath she soon got to the crux of the problem.
Pilates also made me realise that I needed to be doing a daily exercise routine so a combination of that, the Pilates classes and physio have sorted out my injury.
My first impressions were that everyone working there has a passion about what they do and they want you to be fit and healthy.
If you have shoulder, neck or back problems I would certainly recommend contacting Peak Physio and Fitness both for a physio consultation and to take up Pilates. If you block book your Pilates classes they average out at £5 per class (currently). There is free parking there and after Pilates you can also relax with coffee and cake at Providero(but that is another story)!
I will say that if you are a bloke then you may well be the only male in the class and you do need to be aware that people do have their favourite mat! I sometimes swap classes and sometime there is a look of surprise to see a man turn up. I guess people get into a comfort zone as to who attends their class but don’t be put off!
I’m glad I discovered Peak Physio and Fitness!
