If you are new to a vegetarian or vegan diet either because you want to follow one or because a relative is then it can be hard to know where to start, but if you live in North wales then help is at hand in the form of Mindful Myrtle.
During 2017 my daughter decided to follow a vegan diet and so the challenge at Christmas was what were we going to have, which is where Mindful Myrtle came to our aid.
Mindful Myrtle, which is based on the outskirts of Llandudno was started in 2016 with the purpose of helping people to follow a healthy lifestyle and this is achieved by offering vegan food to order, recipes and kitchen experiences.
I started following Mindful Myrtle on Facebook during in 2017 and as we were deciding what we were going to have for our Christmas Dinner I came across her advert for Nut Roast. Now I know some people would be horrified at the thought of not having turkey, duck or some other roasted meat at Christmas but it didn’t bother me and we didn’t want the hassle of multiple menus but at the same time we also didn’t want the meal to be a flop so I ordered an individual portion, delivered to my doorstep in November, which then resulted in a large nut roast being delivered in time for Christmas and I have to say it was a resounding success and turkey wasn’t missed. In fact I would have been more disappointed if there had been no roasted parsnips!
The other challenge with being vegan or vegetarian is eating out and when my daughter came to stay with me trying to find a restaurant with more than one vegetarian or vegan item on the menu was almost impossible. It really does seem as if it is a token effort on the part of most of them and unfortunately Voltaire which is like an oasis in a vegetarian desert was closed between Christmas and New Year when my daughter visited but I needn’t despair as Mindful Myrtle is a great source for recipes as well.
So if you are thinking of going vegan or have a relative who has then Mindful Myrtle can meet all your needs.
